Northwestern-bound Matthew Harris fueled the Lyons Township track and field team’s ninth-place showing (24 points) at Saturday’s state finals by finishing fourth in the long jump (23 feet, 6.25 inches) and fifth in the 110 meter high hurdles (14.63).

Other outstanding individual performances for LTHS at Eastern Illinois University were turned in by Jimmy Mitchell in the shot put (55 feet, 5.5 inches/fifth place), Lino Mogorovic in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles (39.74/seventh place) and Michael Matusiak in the 3200 (9:24.40/20th place).

In the 3200 relay, Ed McCarter, Connor Delaney, Dan Lupano and Alex Lima took sixth place with a time of 7:52.23. Jimmy Rhodes, Antwan Swan, Lima and Mogorovic teamed up in the 1600 relay to finish ninth at 3:31.74.
