Henry "Hank" Guevara

The North Riverside Fire Department is asking folks to aid in a fundraising effort for longtime paramedic/firefighter Henry “Hank” Guevara, who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer.

Guevara started working in 2000 for the village as a paramedic/firefighter through Paramedic Services of Illinois (PSI), and also worked as a paid-on-call firefighter for the village.

He’s also served as an emergency dispatcher and as a CPR and first aid instructor for North Riverside residents, police, school staff and recreation department staff. In addition, he’s played Santa Claus at Komarek School and, until it closed, Mater Christi School, in addition to serving as Santa on the fire department’s annual Santa Run.
