Albertia McCabe (nee Oberg), 91, a former longtime resident of Riverside, died May 29, 2014 at Cedar Community in West Bend, Wisconsin.
Ms. McCabe came to Chicago after graduating from high school in Aurora, Nebraska.
It was in Chicago that she met her future husband John McCabe. The couple lived in Bellwood before moving to Riverside, where Ms. McCabe would live for 53 years.
She was a member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church, where she was actively involved as a church officer, helped with youth programs and provided the church with fresh floral arrangements during the summer months.
Ms. McCabe was also a member of the Riverside Garden Club, Friends of the Riverside Public Library, Riverside Swim Club and the Riverside Protestant League. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, sitting on her front porch with friends and entertaining friends in her home.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy McCabe Goble of Wichita, Kansas, and Judy (Jim) McCabe Krudwig of West Bend, Wisconsin; her son, Jeff (Deanne) McCabe of Bloomington, Minnesota; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Agnes (Berdean) Kohtz of Hampton, Nebraska; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Hawley of Eaton, Ohio.
Ms. McCabe was preceded in death by her husband, John McCabe; her parents, John and Ona (nee Brown) Oberg; her sisters, LaReah McDermott, Martha DeZuba and June Falk; and her brother, John Oberg.
A memorial service will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 16 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio.
