Marco Navarro, 43, formerly of Riverside, died Sept. 18, 2014.

Mr. Navarro was raised in Riverside, where he graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he spent a summer exploring the British Isles and then pursued a career in software development in Madison, Wisconsin.

In addition to helping companies jump into the new millennium via technology, Mr. Navarro was an avid off-road cyclist. When his career led him to Peoria, he was a founding member of the Peoria Area Mountain Bike Association.

He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Wisconsin Off-Road Bicycle Association, the Illinois Mountain Bike Coalition and several National Mountain Bike Patrol chapters. When not on his bicycle, Mr. Navarro offered his vast trail-building knowledge to mountain bike clubs across the U.S.

Mr. Navarro returned to the Chicago area where, after a stint selling Fords, he went to work for Creative Automation as a project manager. He was a valued member of the Navarro Racing Team. IN classic NRT style, he could run the Chicago Marathon with just a few runs under his belt.

He was the husband of husband of Melody; the stepfather of Logan and Lilly; the son of Reynaldo and Guadalupe Navarro; the son-in-law of Richard and Susan Cain; the brother of Reynaldo (Debi), Carlos (Kathy), Luis, Cecilia (Craig), and David (Kelly); the brother-in-law of Scott (Pamela), Karen (Alex), James, Jenna (Jacob); and the uncle and great uncle of many.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 23 at St. Mary Church in Riverside. Interment was private.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the Lilly and Logan Educational Fund, which has been established at Riverside Bank, 17 E. Burlington St., Riverside, Illinois, 60546.

Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village, handled arrangements.
