I always enjoy reading Frank Vlazny’s interesting letters.  In the Oct. 8, issue of the Landmark, Mr. Vlazny stated that in September he visited the war memorial for deceased residents of Riverside who died in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

The memorial is stones with tablets and it is in a natural garden. The village does maintain the memorial, and twice a year, Memorial Day and Veterans Day, the village insures that bushes are trimmed.

During the remainder of the year the memorial is in a more natural state. Our American Legion Post holds a ceremony on each of those holidays to recognize all citizens of Riverside who served in our Armed Forces. I urge everyone to visit the Memorial when they are in Guthrie Park and join the legion on those two special days.
