Cook County Sheriff’s Police charged a 29-year-old Justice man with felony drunken driving after his 2002 Mercury Sable crossed into oncoming traffic while westbound on Archer Avenue in unincorporated Lemont on April 10 at 1:45 p.m. and struck a 2011 Subaru Outback, killing 94-year-old Lillian Linduska, of Brookfield.
Patrick O’Connor remains in custody at Cook County Jail; his bond was set at $750,000 at a hearing on Sunday.
According to police, O’Connor was driving westbound on Archer Avenue near 107th Street when he struck the oncoming Subaru. Linduska, who was a passenger in the Subaru, was taken to an area hospital where she died of multiple injuries as a result of the crash, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
O’Connor and a 66-year-old Downers Grove woman were also treated for minor injuries at area hospitals, police said.
During their investigation, police said they learned O’Connor had been drinking alcohol and had been administered methadone earlier that day. In addition to felony DUI causing death, O’Connor was cited for driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving in the wrong lane.
O’Connor had a preliminary court hearing at the Bridgeview courthouse on Tuesday.
