Stella Jeanne Abram (nee Fransen), 75, a longtime resident of the Hollywood section of Brookfield, died May 1, 2015.
Ms. Abram was born March 20, 1940 in Rockford, one of 10 children in a farming family. She moved to Chicago in 1960, where she met her future husband, David J. Abram.
The couple married and lived in Chicago until 1970, when their first son was born. They bought an 1895 frame home on Woodside Avenue in Hollywood and never left. Sprucing up their home got them interested in local history and both Stella and David Abram would play important role in the production of Brookfield Illinois: A History, published in 1994.
Ms. Abram was one of the writers of the book, while Mr. Abram handled page design and layout. She was an active member of the Hollywood Citizens Association and the Brookfield Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and is survived by her children, Todd A. (Julia) Abram and Douglas J. (Sarah) Abram; her grandsons, John D. Abram and Andrew R. Abram; and her siblings, Henry (Irene) Fransen, Ferdinand Fransen, Frank Fransen, Marion Reidelberger and Helen Mennenga.
An open house memorial will be held at the family home on Sunday, May 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Hollywood Citizens Association, P.O. Box 262, Brookfield, Illinois, 60513.
Hitzeman Funeral Home, Brookfield, handled arrangements.
