Riverside officials have announced that it will begin changing over its waste hauling service from Republic Services (formerly Allied Waste) to Flood Brothers beginning next week.

The final date for refuse collection by Republic Services will be Wednesday, May 27. The usual Tuesday collection will be delayed one day due to the Memorial Day holiday. After June 1, refuse, recycling and yard waste collection for residential customers will take place on Thursdays.

Residents should place their refuse, recycling and yard waste carts at the curb for collection on Wednesday, May 27 as they normally would. Republic will empty containers and remove any containers that belong to them. It may take several days for Republic to remove all of their carts. Leave your carts at the curb to speed this process.  Flood Brothers will begin delivering new refuse carts on Tuesday. This process will likely continue for several days also.

Residents and businesses with village-owned green recycling carts with gray lids and an imprint of the village logo will continue to use those carts for recycling. Any recycling carts owned by Republic will be collected and replaced with carts owned by Flood Brothers. This will also be the procedure for yard waste carts. If you are currently using a recycling or yard waste cart owned by Republic Services, please email Cathy Haley at chaley@riverside.il.us with this information.

Residents are asked read the Flood Brothers brochure mailed to all Riverside addresses recently for more information on paperless billing, automatic payment options and Flood Brothers senior citizen discount. Any residents currently enrolled in an automatic payment program for their Republic Services bill should contact their bank to discontinue this automatic deduction.

Any commercial customers who have not established service with Flood Brothers at their location should call Michael J. Flood at 630-241-0400.
