The farmers markets in Riverside and Brookfield kick off this week and will continue to be held once a week into the fall.
The Riverside Farmers Market will be held on Burling Road, in the parking lot between the Riverside Township Hall and the Riverside Public Library, on Wednesday, June 3 from 2:30 to 7 p.m. and then on every Wednesday afternoon through Oct. 14.
The market features nearly 30 vendors selling local grown fruits and vegetables, chicken and duck eggs, naturally raised meats, baked goods, sweets, honey and maple syrup and made-to-order food, such as pizza, crepes, doughnuts and more.
Each market features live music and a weekly scavenger hunt for kids.
The Brookfield Farmers Market begins its summer run on Saturday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Brookfield Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Ave. The market will run through mid-October and features more than 20 independent farmers and vendors from the Midwest, selling fruits, vegetables and baked goods. Grab a cup of coffee and have a made-to-order Belgian waffle or some popcorn while you shop or enjoy the live music.
The market is sponsored by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. Pets are welcome and there’s plenty of free parking.
