For the past 14 years, a guy named Cyrus Chamanara has been making life hell for a Riverside-Brookfield High School teacher, allegedly. Along the way, he also found time to stalk former NBA star Jeff Hornacek and hang out in grade school, high school and college gymnasiums generally creeping people out.

For some reason, apart from a conviction in the Hornacek case (which led to probation), no other agency has been able to put together a convincing case that Chamanara is a stalker. That is, until Riverside police outlined a pattern of behavior that led the Cook County State’s Attorney to charge him with stalking.

Right now, the teacher at RBHS can rest easy knowing his alleged tormentor is behind bars (with a hefty bond). It was thorough police work that put him there, and for that Riverside police should take a bow.
