Eastbound traffic on Forest Avenue between Kimbark and Lincoln avenues will be closed throughout the day on Friday, July 29, as the village works to repair a section of sewer that apparently has collapsed.

The lane closure will begin at 8 a.m. and no parking will be allowed on either side of Forest Avenue between Kimbark and Lincoln.

Public Works Director Edward Bailey said that a resident experiencing some sewer backups in his home after recent rains led crews to check nearby manholes, which showed that the sewer flow appeared to be blocked somewhere between the two north-south streets.

Bailey said the sewer line will be televised to pinpoint the location of the collapse before crews begin digging to fix the pipe. He called the repair a “routine” operation that ought to take just one day to complete.
