In addition to encouraging eco-friendly tourism, Riverside is about to roll out a new program where residents can participate in a composting pilot program that allows them to separate out food waste which will be turned into compost that they can later use in their home gardens.

Both village officials and officials from Flood Brothers Disposal should be commended for piloting this program in Riverside, and we hope that the extra $17 a month won’t deter too many people from taking advantage.

It’ll be a win both for the environment by directing waste away from landfills and for your own home gardens via the compost you’ll get in return. If nothing else, your tomato plants will thank you.
