Paul Otto Holecek, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and formerly of Riverside, died on July 12, 2017.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1950 to Otto Joseph Holecek and Margaret Ouska Holecek in Oak Park. For many years, Paul proudly served in the U.S. Navy doing several tours in Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines and performing mine assembly and submarine tracking among other duties.
He had a great sense of humor and could quickly come up with a joke for any occasion. Even as his health began to fail, he spent his last few years helping other Navy veterans in need.
Mr. Holecek is survived by his siblings, Thomas (Sylvia) Holecek and Hillary (Mark) Richardson and his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial Mass with military honors will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 126 Herrick Rd. in Riverside on Friday, July 21 at 10 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church by 9:45 a.m.
