Walter J. (Wally) Michalowski, 92, of Springdale, Arizona, died on Feb. 12, 2018. Born to Walter and Katherine Michalowski (nee Komac) on Jan. 21, 1926 in Nokomis, Illinois, he was a WWII veteran, a retired police officer for the village of North Riverside, and a former marshal of Beaver, Arizona for 40+ years.
An all-around hero and legend, his personality, infectious laughter, and willingness to help others was limitless and will not soon be forgotten.
Walter Michalowski was the husband of Muriel (Pearson) Michalowski, the one and only true love of his life, for 64 years; the father of Carol (Kalins), Marilyn (Meindl) and Victoria (Fausnaught); the father-in-law of Marty Fausnaught, his primary caregiver for the past six years; the brother of Dolores Wolpoff; grandfather of nine; great-grandfather of 10 (with one on the way) and great-great-grandfather of four.
A visitation, service, and flag ceremony were held on Feb. 16 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale, 479-751-4747.
