Folks who live in the South Hollywood section of Brookfield may to find an alternate route in and out of the neighborhood later this week.
The Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad has announced it will be grinding and resurfacing the asphalt at the Hollywood Avenue grade crossing on May 12. The railroad said the grade crossing would be closed for one day.
According to information provided by the village of Brookfield, the work may also impact commuter train schedules. More information about schedule changes should be available at www.metrarail.com as the closure date approaches.
Hollywood Avenue is the only roadway leading out of the neighborhood to the north side of the tracks. Motorists and pedestrians can still exit to the east via West Quincy Street or Waubansee Road. However, exiting motorists can only turn south from those streets, so people are asked to plan for potentially longer travel times and routes that day.
