Dea Rufo, the librarian at Lincoln School in Brookfield, has been recognized by a local food pantry for her efforts collecting food to help feed the needy in Brookfield and Lyons.

Since 2017, Rufo has donated the food she collects to the Share Food, Share Love Food Pantry, which is located at Faith Lutheran Church in Brookfield.

She involves Lincoln School families by enlisting their help in collecting food during her book swap/food drive events. Students can bring in an item of non-perishable food and get a book in exchange for their home libraries.

Students really enjoy knowing that for every can of food that they donate, they are helping another person as well as getting a book for their kindness,” Rufo said in a press release.

Books that are left over from the book swap are donated to Share Food, Share Love.
