Why are you running for a seat on District 103 school board?

I am running for a seat on the District 103 school board because the board needs to have representatives that mirror the community and can voice their needs

Are you or a family member employed by the village of Lyons?

No

What role should municipal politics and politicians play at the school board level?

Politics and politicians should have no role at the school board level.

What do you think about standardized test scores and academic performance at schools in District 103? What action can the school board take to help improve student achievement?

There is always room to improve District 103’s standardized test scores and academic performance. The role of the school board is to provide professional and academic development for students and teachers alike. Additionally, the amount of time teaching for the test could be reworked to improve normal classwork which ultimately should prepare our students for any and all testing.

How does District 103 integrate technology into the classroom? What can be done to expand the integration of technology at the classroom level?

Access to current technology and software is extremely important. Continued research and grant writing to expand access at all schools is of upmost importance.

At the time of this election, the current school board will have selected a new superintendent after a months-long search process. Should that new top administrator be allowed to freely assemble an administrative team, or should the board intervene and request more input?

To ensure the administrative team is an impartial team, there should be school board oversight.

Would you consider replacing the new superintendent, if that option were available, prior to the start of the 2019-20 school year?

Should the need arise, I would be interested in serving as interim superintendent.

8.    What other issues are important to you as a school board candidate? How would you advocate for them as a board member?

Academic success and access, remedial resources, and a political-free board are important to me.
