The Lyons Township High School Board of Education unanimously approved Daniel Hartman as the new Lions varsity football coach, replacing Kurt Weinberg who stepped down.

Hartman has been the head varsity football coach and Social Studies teacher at Hinsdale Central High School for the past five years. He has an impressive resume, with an overall coaching win percentage of 76% that includes conference championships and trips to the state quarter and semi-finals.

He was named 2015 Chicago Bears Coach of the Week, and his record as head football coach stands at 67-22, with eight playoff appearances, three conference championships and trips to the state quarter finals and semifinals. As head coach at Hinsdale Central for the last five seasons, he led the team to the school’s first conference championship in 14 years. Prior to Hinsdale, he was head coach at Evergreen Park High School and led its team to their first ever conference championship and trips to the state quarter and semi-finals.

His football program practices consistency, discipline, accountability and loyalty to each other and the program. He believes the development of these traits breeds success both on and off the football field.

Hartman promises, “I will bring the work ethic, dedication, intensity and leadership necessary to run a successful football program. Lyons Township is one of the top five teaching and coaching jobs in the state of Illinois, and I can’t wait to get started.”

“I’m confident Coach Hartman is a great fit for our Lions football program,” said LT Athletic Director John Grundke. “He brings a wealth of experience and leadership. His dedication to players on and off the field will only add to the LT program.”

Hartman received a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies-Secondary Education from Thomas More College in Kentucky and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. He earned a Reading Specialist from Concordia University and holds an English as a Second Language Certificate.
