After Illinois legalized video gambling, it took a little time to get used to the “Play Slots Here!” signs that all of a sudden were popping up in the windows of storefronts and outside bars in the area.
So imagine how strange it will be — after a century of this nation stigmatizing marijuana use — to see signs proudly advertising a seven-pointed leaf and products inside guaranteed to get you stoned.
Will Riverside become Little Amsterdam or North Riverside the Denver of the flatlands? Who knows?
But if you live in Riverside and you want to kick the subject around, head on over to the Riverside Village Board meeting on July 18 at 7 p.m. at township hall. Should the sale of cannabis be allowed in Riverside? If so, where?
