Brookield police issued a press release Saturday evening asking for the public’s help in locating Erica Thompson, a 53-year-old Brookfield resident who was reported missing earler this week. Thompson’s family reported her missing on Oct. 1, but her son stated in a social media post that she may have gone missing as early as Sept. 25.

In the press release, police describe Thompson as “missing/endangered” but did not disclose any further details. Thompson has not contacted family, friends or her employer since disappearing. Two cats were left unattended inside her residence.

Police say Thompson was last seen definitively on Sept. 25. Her vehicle, a dark metallic purple Nissan Juke with Illinois plates E27 3380, is also missing. Anyone who has any knowledge or tips regarding Thompson’s whereabouts or her vehicle is asked to call the Brookfield police tip line at 708-244-4862 or email tips to the West Suburban Major Case Assistance Team to mcat@mcatpolice.org.

Brookfield police confirmed on Oct. 2 that they are actively investigating the disappearance of 53-year-old Erica Thompson, who has been missing since at least  Sept. 27, possibly as early as Sept. 25, according to a social media post by her son.

On Oct. 1, Michael Russo announced on Facebook that Thompson failed to show up for work and did not call in sick. In addition, he wrote that the back door to her residence was open and that the air conditioning had been left on.

Moldy dishes were left piled in the sink and next to her bed, Russo wrote, and surveillance video from cameras installed at the home had been deleted.

“None of this adds up,” wrote Russo, who also included two photos of his mother with his Facebook post in addition to a description of her car, a metallic purple 2014 Nissan Juke with license plate number E27 3380. “She barely leaves the house to go to work or the store.”

Russo said police pinged Thompson’s phone in Springfield, Missouri, and that police there are also investigating his mother’s disappearance.

Brookfield Deputy Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla would confirm only that Thompson’s whereabouts were unknown and that detectives were actively investigating.

“Our hope is she’s OK,” Kuruvilla said. “We’re tracking any angle we can on this.”
