Residents in the Lyons Township portion of Brookfield used to casting their ballots on Election Day at the St. Barbara Parish Center building on Prairie Avenue will have to vote at a new location if they wait to vote until Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Voters in Lyons Township Precinct 2, an L-shaped district that runs from Southview Avenue to Shields Avenue along the eastern border of Brookfield will now head west to Congress Park School, 9311 Shields Ave. to cast a ballot on Election Day.

Those living in Lyons Township Precinct 45, which runs roughly between Southview and Shields from Prairie to Madison, will cast their ballots this year on Nov. 3 at the LaGrange Community Center, 200 Washington Ave. in LaGrange.

Residents of Brookfield in Lyons Township Precinct 67, bounded by Custer, Elm, Shields and 47th Street, will cast their votes this year at Lincoln School, 4300 Grove Ave. in Brookfield.

The changes are in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The St. Barbara Parish Center site has been used as a congregate location to shelter those experiencing homelessness.

Those polling place changes follow on the heels of others made in March for the presidential primary election. So, if you live in Riverside Township Precinct 10 and Riverside Precinct 12 and you did not vote in the primaries, your Election Day polling place has changed since the last time you voted.

Both precincts, which comprise the northwest corner of Riverside and the North Riverside roughly south of 26th Street, had their polling places moved in March from Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care to the North Riverside Village Commons, 2401 Desplaines Ave.

Those precincts will continue to vote at the Village Commons on Nov. 3.

The polling place has also changed for voters in Proviso Township Precincts 25 and 75, which are located in LaGrange Park. Previously, those voters cast ballots at St. Paul Lutheran School in Brookfield. On Nov. 3, those voters need to report to the LaGrange Park Public Library, 555 N. LaGrange Road, LaGrange Park.

Of course, voters can avoid any Election Day memory lapses by casting their ballots early at any one of the 50 early voting sites in suburban Cook County, which are open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Oct. 30; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1; and from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 2.

Nearby early voting locations include Brookfield Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Ave., and Lyons Village Hall, 4200 Lawndale Ave.
