Carl Barnas, 77, of North Riverside died on Nov. 19, 2020.
Mr. Barnas graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 1961. While working and attending some college classes, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in South Korea until his honorable discharge.
He worked for 35 years for United Airlines. He was known for being a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan, for his love of sweets, for his appreciation of any and all murder mystery shows, his acumen for card games (especially hearts, pinochle and blackjack) and his bad dad jokes.
He died knowing that the Cubs won the World Series in his lifetime.
Mr. Barnas was the husband of Chong Mi; the father of James and Jennifer (Adam); the grandfather of Amara; and the brother of Carol (Larry) Knistoft. He is survived by cousins, niece and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and mother, Stella (nee Sitarz), as well as aunts and uncles.
Services have been held.
