Police in Riverside and North Riverside have beefed up traffic enforcement patrols around the holiday season as part of a grant-funded Drive Sober or get Pulled Over campaign in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Through Jan. 4, motorists will see an increase in patrols and traffic stops during this high-visibility campaign to crackdown on impaired driving.

“During this season of caring, let’s remember to extend our goodwill to fellow motorists,” said Riverside Sgt. Jeff Miller in a press release. “The best way we can do that is by making a commitment to drive sober and thereby help ensure that we all make it to our destinations safely.”

Police recommend that you designate a sober driver, take public transportation or use a ride-sharing service, prevent friends and family members from driving while impaired and to buckle up when driving at any time.
