UPDATE 2:30 PM: The barricade situation in Brookfield has concluded. The man inside the home surrendered to the police without incident.

Brookfield police have cordoned off the area near the 9000 block of Bartlett Avenue on Brookfield’s north end as they attempt to negotiate with an armed man barricaded inside a home.

Police received a 911 call at 10:36 AM reporting a domestic situation at the residence. No one has been injured and the man is by himself inside the house, police said. He is reportedly armed with a shotgun.

Numerous police agencies have responded to the scene, and others including a Cook County Sheriff’s police negotiator and a special response team from the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) are on their way.

“We’re just trying to talk him out,” said Brookfield Police Chief Edward Petrak.

This is a developing story.
