Catherine J. “Kit” Nealon, 61, of Chicago and formerly of North Riverside, died peacefully on March 22, 2021 in the presence of loved ones.
She was born Feb. 6, 1960 in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago to her late parents, Joseph and Kitty Nealon, of Beverly.
A St. Barnabas School alumna, Ms. Nealon was an administrative assistant for most of her working career, initially for Loyola University Hospital and then for Hines V.A. Hospital.
She enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, diving into a good burger, taking trips and spending long holidays with family and friends. Her most recent trip was with her children and grandchildren to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, Arizona, in October 2020. She will be remembered for being wickedly funny, a straight shooter and having a sense of humor that is unmatched. Kit’s intelligence, big heart, and spark will be missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Nealon was the mother of Jess (Doug) Pesola Gerald of Chicago and Nick Pesola of Cincinnati; the “wicked” stepmother of Jason (Keri) Pesola, Joey Pesola, and Michael (April) Pesola; the grandmother (Mimi/Nana) of Arianna and Vito Pesola and soon to be Baby Boy Gerald; the sister of Marian (Bob) Nealon, Trish (John) Clark, Tom (Karin) Nealon, and the late Jim Nealon; and a cousin, aunt and friend of many.
Services have been held. A future memorial service to spread Kit’s ashes will be held at Virginia Ridge in Elizabeth, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a charitable donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org) or planting a tree.
Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville, handled arrangements.
