As a new resident of Brookfield, a millennial, somebody who works in the Loop, an avid cyclist, and somebody who says, “Yes, I need a car to live here,” I’d like to thank Trustees Brian Conroy and Ed Cote for vocalizing their opposition to the embarrassing idea that an abundance of bike parking would be enough for the future residents of Brookfield’s newest proposed residential development.
I agree that we should develop certain corners of our beautiful village but, after years in Chicago, I moved to Brookfield because I wanted more living space and accessible parking. I may be looking at this through the lens of a “single-family home owner,” but if I was cool with living somewhere without parking, I would’ve just stayed in Lakeview.
