The Linda Sokol Francis Brookfield Library, 3541 Park Ave., has closed its doors temporarily in order to fix a plumbing issue that will require shutting off the water in the building occasionally while the repairs take place.

The library is closed to visitors beginning Dec. 15 and will reopen Monday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m., said library Director Kimberly Coughran.

According to Coughran, the problem is a hot water heater part called an anode, which is apparently incompatible with the water heater installed at the library. The part needs to be replaced after which the system will be flushed and sanitized, said Coughran.

However, those who have been looking forward to the 20th anniversary celebration of the library’s beloved Family Holiday Pajama Extravaganza event scheduled for Friday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m., need not put those plans on hold.

The event will go ahead as planned at a new location, the Brookfield Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Ave. The event will be hosted on both the main floor and lower level to accommodate the nearly 200 people who had already registered to attend as of Dec. 14.
