Seven Riverside-Brookfield High School student projects were nominated for Crystal Pillar Awards – an honor given to high school students enrolled in TV production classes – by the National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences/Midwest Chapter.

The students nominated were seniors Carter Cozzi and Elena Miers, juniors Sam Egan and Jake O’Brien and sophomore Makayla Angshed.

Cozzi received a NATAS Crystal Pillar Award for production excellence for his “Mental Health” PSA, while Egan and O’Brien were awarded one for their sports program “CrossOver Sports.”

At the recent Midwest Media Educators Association High School Video Festival, RBTV students took home many awards. 

Miers won first place for her music video “When I was Older,” a second place for her “RB Poms Promo” and a third place for her “Military Sexual Assault” PSA. Freshman Liam Hickey won first place for his talk show “People in Perspective with guest star WGN-TV personality Ana Belaval.” 

Egan and O’Brien won second place for their “CrossOver Sports” show, Makayla Angshed took a fifth place for her “Helping Paws” PSA and “Dishing with Delight” cooking program, and Cozzi took a fifth place for his “Mental Health” PSA.
