Riverside Golf Club has announced that three of its caddies have been awarded full college tuition and housing scholarships by the Evans Scholars Foundation, founded by Charles “Chick” Evans, a former caddie who became one of the country’s top amateur golfers in the early 20th century.

Riverside caddie and Fenwick High School senior Elijah Bolger of Berwyn was awarded a scholarship to Marquette University, where he will study psychology.

Lyons Township High School senior Gabriel Lazarski of LaGrange Park was awarded a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, where he will study mathematics and data science.

Riverside-Brookfield High School senior Jose Elizondo of North Riverside was awarded a scholarship to Marquette University, where he will study business.

The Evans Scholarships are awarded to caddies with demonstrated financial need, strong academic achievement and outstanding performance as a caddie, and who successfully complete a selection process.

Riverside is one of the top producers of Evans Scholars in the country with the first scholarship awarded to a Riverside Gold Club caddie in 1949. Since then, 135 Riverside caddies have been awarded Evans Scholarships, of which 15 are or will be attending college this year.
