Thanksgiving just passed, and now it’s time for Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or other holidays your loved ones celebrate this time of year! To officially launch your friends and family’s celebration of the holidays, Brookfield Zoo invites you to their Holiday Magic event. Holiday Magic is Chicagoland’s longest-running lights festival that has over 2 million LED lights that turn the zoo into the brightest winter wonderland. Participants can wander around the park and enjoy the 41-foot-long tree that plays light sequences to different seasonal songs, 3D Gingerbread House, and 600-foot-long Tunnel of Lights. Not only will the paths be lit up, but so will some animal habitats, restaurants, and gift shops. Get festive at the zoo, all are welcome! Senior Discount Haircuts

Thanksgiving is just around the corner — don’t you want to look spick-and-span for your friends and family? Well, seniors, you’re in luck! Luanna and the North Riverside Parks and Recreation are offering discounts to seniors who would like haircuts. Typically, at 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month discounts occur, but this week is special for the holiday. It is important to note that walk-ins are not accepted, instead, appointments are required by calling the Parks & Rec Department at (708) 442-5515. Call now! Annual Turkey Trot Hike

All the turkey, stuffing, and desserts got you feeling stuffed? Bring the family to River Forest’s annual Turkey Trot Hike. The Trailside Museum is a perfect place for a hike, considering the native animals, wildflower gardens, and other nature delights. Spice Club: Gingerbread Spice

Sugar, Spice, and everything you need provided by the Spice Club is nice! As a part of Make it Mondays, on the fourth Monday of every month, participants can pick up a free spice kit to prepare at home provided by the North Riverside Public Library.
