
Juniors Matt Elzy and Edgar Mosquera were individual champions as the Riverside Brookfield High School boys wresting team won the Fenton Invite Dec. 2.
Elzy (190 pounds) won with three pins in three matches, the championship one coming in 2:41.
Mosquera (113) won his final 5-2 following two pins.
Mateo Arauz (120), Jacob Godoy (132), Ricky Blanco (138), Josh Gonzalez (144) and Ethan Rivas (157) finished second. Gonzalez lost 10-4 to Waubonsie Valley’s Ethan Wojtowich.
Mateo Gonzalez (106), Nathan Stanard (126), Cade Tomkins (165) and Max Strong (175) were third. Jacob Noe (150) was fourth.
RBHS (236.50 points) finished 24 points ahead of second-place South Elgin.
In their home triangular Dec. 1, the Bulldogs defeated Notre Dame 43-32 and lost to Plainfield East 50-45.

LTHS boys wrestling
Senior Gunnar Garelli (165 pounds) and sophomore Griff Powell (120) each went 5-0 in the Lions’ action last week.
In their West Suburban Conference Silver Division openers, the Lions lost 47-25 at Glenbard West Thursday and 50-21 at Oak Park and River Forest Friday.
At the LTHS Mega Duals Saturday, the Lions defeated Willowbrook 66-10 and Fenwick 72-12 and lost to Lincoln-Way Central 61-14.
LTHS girls wrestling
Zoe Connelly won twice with pins at 125 pounds in the Lions’ WSC duals at Glenbard West Thursday and at OPRF Friday.
Avi Gonzalez (110), Sofia Turek (135) and Journie Wickert-Harris (130) also won with pins against Glenbard West.
The Lions competed at the Plainfield Central triangular Saturday.
Avery Workman (140) recorded her first victory with a second-period pin against Yorkville. Connelly had a second-period pin against Plainfield Central. Mari Sorice (130) won her exhibition match against Kaneland.
LTHS boys bowling
LTHS junior Danny Haley was second at the Andrew Invitational Saturday with a 1,372 six-game series. The Lions finished sixth (5,835).
Haley had taken second at the Minooka Invitational Dec. 2 with a 900 series for four games.
