Dave Weishaar industrial arts teacher and head boys track coach at Riverside Brookfield High School is leaving RB to take a job at Hinsdale South High School next year.
Weishaar taught nine classes at RB during the past 10 years, ranging from automotive classes to pre-engineering and pre-architecture classes.
“This decision comes after ten incredibly rewarding years at RBHS,” Weishaar wrote in his resignation letter. “I’ve been particularly proud of collaborating with Patty Sarkady and Patti Farlee in the Applied Arts Department in my tenure. Together, we fostered a collaborative spirit that led to significant achievements: growing our programs, establishing dual credit opportunities with Triton College, and integrating industry credentials into the curriculum.”
Farlee retired last year.
Weishaar was so versatile that the school has posted two openings to replace him, one for an automotive teacher and one for a technology teacher.
“He has built such a rapport with the students,” Sarkady said. “He treats his classroom like a workplace environment.”
Weishaar also served as the head boys track coach for the past six years. His teams have won or shared four consecutive conference championships. Weishaar told the Landmark that he expects to coach track in some capacity at either Hinsdale South or Hinsdale Central next year.
