Brookfield has reconfigured the front counter experience at its village hall.

Starting June 3, there have been two counters within the village hall that residents can approach, the village announced online May 31.

At the building and inspectional services counter, village staff can answer questions about building permits, inspections, licensing and code requirements. At the finance counter, staff will handle payments for water bills, vehicle stickers, commuter parking passes, permits and waste stickers.

There is also a new drop box residents can use to file completed business license applications, plan submittals and permit applications, both residential and commercial. Any incomplete applications submitted will be returned within two business days.

Permits related to residential work involving windows, doors, gutters, roofing, siding or water heaters will be issued within two business days as long as the application is fully completed, including any additional documents that are required.

Commercial permits will be reviewed on the same timeline as before.
