Lyons Township High School
* College sports plans: Volleyball at the University of West Georgia (Carrollton, Ga.); Joining NCAA Division I this coming season
* College major: Health and Community Wellness (physical therapy)
* Reasons I chose West Georgia: “What really drew me into UWG were the coaches and their vision for the future. Head coach Kara Hellmann and assistant coach Katie Miller did a great job of describing their goals for the future and helping me understand where I can make an immediate impact on those goals. With the program moving to the Division I level this fall, it’s exciting to be a part of the building process of this program with my future teammates. The expectations and standards are already set high for us this upcoming season, and I’m really looking forward to the progress we will make toward all the goals we have set.”
* On playing college sports: “It was always a dream of mine to play collegiate volleyball. I’m a very competitive person, but I also love how team-focused the sport of volleyball is. You truly cannot have a successful team without every single person being invested and focused on the team’s needs and goals above their own, and I’m excited to explore that idea at the next level. I’m also thrilled to have found a program in which I know I’ll be able to grow as an athlete, but also as a person, teammate, and learner.”
* What I learned from high school sports: “There is nothing like high school volleyball, especially at Lyons Township. The bonds I’ve formed with my teammates and coaches there are some of the best memories I have from my time in high school. I think high school volleyball taught me how important and special it is to represent your school on the court and how much pride that can bring, and it only makes me even more excited to represent the Wolves at UWG.”
