Riverside police have arrested the man suspected of robbing Riverside Bank, 17 E. Burlington St., on Saturday, Nov. 29.

64-year-old Robert Jocko was located in Brookfield on Wednesday, Dec. 3, and arrested around 5:35 p.m., police said in a press release Friday.

Police have charged Jocko with class one aggravated robbery, and other charges are pending. Public safety officials worked with the Chicago field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to “analyze evidence, review surveillance footage, and track down leads,” police said in the written statement.

Police said the robbery occurred at 10:23 a.m. on Nov. 29. Jocko “implied” to bank staff he was carrying a weapon, police said, but he did not display one, Gabrielle Szlenkier, the public affairs officer of the FBI’s Chicago field office, told the Landmark on Monday, Dec. 1.

Update, Dec. 9, 2025, 2:15 p.m.: This story has been updated with information about the arrest of the suspect. The original story can be found below.

Riverside Bank, 17 E. Burlington St., was robbed Nov. 29 by a man reportedly in his 50s or 60s. He verbally threatened bank employees with a weapon but did not actually display a weapon to staffers.

Gabrielle Szlenkier, the public affairs officer of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Chicago field office, told the Landmark that the suspect has not yet been tracked down. She said FBI investigators know what was stolen, including how much money was taken, but that she could not release that information.

She said FBI personnel arrived at the bank around 11 a.m. after the robbery was reported. Local police likely arrived at the bank in advance of the FBI, she said. Riverside Public Safety Director Matthew Buckley did not respond to a request for comment by the Landmark by the time of publication.

Riverside Bank is a local branch of Wintrust Community Bank, which is federally insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, meaning the incident falls under the FBI’s federal-level purview, Szlenkier said.

If you witness a robbery in the future, Szlenkier said to never confront the robber and to call 911 as soon as possible, especially if there is a threat of danger.

If you have information related to the robbery, Szlenkier suggested submitting a tip to the FBI through its online tip form.

Augie Garcia, the branch manager for Riverside Bank, did not respond to a Landmark request for comment by the time of publication.
