
Mary Elizabeth Binder (nee Weldon), 94, of North Riverside, died on Feb. 1, 2026. Born on May 18, 1931, she was active at Mater Christi Church as a member of the Women’s Guild and the Prayer Shawl ministry. She was recognized as Woman of the Year by the parish in recognition of her volunteer efforts. She enjoyed bowling, golf, tennis and planting in her garden.
Mary was the wife of the late George “Red” Binder; the mother of the late Paul (Joanie), Peter (Joan) (late Jody), Rosanne (Bill) Brown, Steven (Debbie), Matthew, Sharon, Andrew (Bonnie), and Mark (Karen) Binder; grandmother of Joseph, John and Thomas Brown, Michael, David, Kevin, Ryan, Kyle, Megan and Lauren Binder; step-grandmother of Robert III and Brett Littlehale; great-grandmother of 12; sister of Peggy (Richard) Gross, Helen (late Warren) Foster, Loretta (late Wally) Waluk, Charlotte (John) Walsh, James (Dorothy) Weldon, George (Joyce) Weldon, Patrick (Wanda) Weldon, the late Joan (late Austin) Goodwin and the late Barbara (Fred) Bruggemeyer; and the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home on Feb. 8. Funeral Mass was held at Mater Christi Church on Feb. 9. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
