Riverside is once again serving as Hollywood on the Des Plaines, with film crews shooting simultaneously at two locations in the village for the upcoming Season 4 of the series "Fargo," which airs on the FX cable network.

The village is standing in for Kansas City, circa 1950, which is why you may also have seen some vintage vehicles parked alongside the roads near the intersection of Addison and North Cowley roads and on Maplewood Road, where the filming is taking place.

You may also catch a glimpse of the Season 4's star, comedian Chris Rock, who reportedly was in town Thursday for the shoot. Others in the cast include Jack Huston and Jason Schwartzman. The series is slated to air in 2020.

Filming was scheduled at both locations on Nov. 7 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., and residents who live in those areas were asked not to park their cars on the street between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., since SUVs and the like would kill the Truman-era vibe.

According to notices left in the area by the production company, filming on Nov. 8 was limited to the Addison Road location between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. The Friday shoot also was to include filming of vehicles driving on the street.

Village Manager Jessica Frances said that the "Fargo" cast and crew will be returning to Riverside intermittently between now and March 2020, and that her office would be coordinating police, fire, public works and film crew activities.

Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said that four Riverside police officers have been assigned to provide security and traffic control at the filming locations. The officers are working overtime that will be paid for by the production company per its agreement with the village, Frances said.

There could be temporary road closures while filming is taking place. In addition to the filming locations, the production company has staged other vehicles and equipment at Brookfield Zoo, the Riverside Swim Club and the parking lot at St. Mary Parish. The company's own private security firm is monitoring those locations.

The company paid the village a $500 application fee and submitted a $15,000 deposit in order to get permission to film in the village. The company will also be billed on a monthly basis, said Frances, to recoup any police, fire or public works-related costs related to the film crew's activities in the village.

Riverside has been a popular location for TV shows and feature films in recent years. In 2015, the Scout Cabin served as a location for the pilot of a TV series called "Runner," which never got off the ground. In 2013, Riverside was a location for the TV series "Betrayal," which had a 13-episode run on ABC in 2013-14.
