RB grapples to third at regional

A season full of hopes and dreams and work had come down to this. Saturday morning the Riverside-Brookfield High School cheerleaders had just under three minutes to strut their stuff before a panel of judges and a large crowd at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington at the Illinois High School Association State Finals. The cheerleaders rose to the occasion and turned in a flawless routine to finish second in the state in the medium schools division and become the first girls athletic team in RB history to win a state trophy.
A sweet 16 for Fenwick basketball
Fenwick girls basketball forward Tricia Liston put on a show in the first half of the Friars’ match-up against Marian Catholic on Saturday afternoon. The Duke-bound senior scored 21 of her 37 points in the first two quarters of action to lead her Friars to a 73-63 victory and the program’s 16th-straight East Suburban Catholic Conference title.

The Riverside-Brookfield girls basketball team rolled to a 65-25 win over Ridgewood in Metro Suburban Conference action on Friday.

It was a somewhat good week for Fenwick boys basketball coach John Quinn. His brother, Pat, the current Governor of Illinois, won the Democrat primary election – albeit narrowly – and despite his Friars going 1-2 for the week, his young team showed vast improvement in certain areas.
