I was shocked to read the Landmark’s endorsements for the April 7 Brookfield village elections. With all the cover-ups, mistakes and financial problems plaguing the village, the Landmark endorses PEP.
With all the unfavorable press about the PEP Party over the last two years the Landmark endorses four PEP candidates. What a 360-degree turn around! Just when I thought the Landmark was becoming a strong unbiased news journal they do something like this. The Landmark has lost a lot of credibility with me, my family, friends and neighbors.
Wil Brennan should have been endorsed for village president. Wil has leadership qualities that can bring unity back to our community and he has the solutions to solve Brookfield’s problems. I should have been endorsed for village clerk, because I have far more experience than my opponent and possess a real concern for helping people.
The VIP administration purchased the school property to expand Jaycee/Ehlert Park and put the plans together and applied for grants to improve the land; now PEP gets the credit.
We secured funding before we left office for the Prairie Avenue and Maple Avenue street improvements and PEP takes the credit. We started improving residential streets without special service area taxes; something they opposed but now follow our lead.
We put a 2020 Master Plan together to be used as a road map for future development all over town, including Ogden Avenue, and they take the credit.
Yes, PEP did improve more alleys than VIP, but they neglect to tell you that the residents are paying for the alleys on special assessments not the village.
The PEP party assassinates the character of Wil Brennan and I in their negative political literature portraying us as the Sopranos and the Landmark does not print a word about that.
For the past four elections it has been the same old mudslinging, slander and lies from the PEP Party without any real discuss of village issues. The VIP Party will stay positive and walk the high road until Election Day. I feel that the people of Brookfield are far more intelligent than the PEP Party thinks they are.
The people of Brookfield will be the final word on who gets elected, not the Landmark. I have faith in the people to do the right thing on April 7 and vote to bring real change to our village by electing Wil Brennan as village president, Bill Russ as village clerk and Leanne Digan, Tim Heilenbach and Richard Kostelnik for the three village trustee positions.
