Instead of waiting until their regularly scheduled meeting, the Riverside-Brookfield High School board will vote to name the school’s new principal on Tuesday.

At a special meeting scheduled for Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge of the high school, 160 Ridgewood Road in Riverside, Interim Superintendent David Bonnette will announce his recommendation to the board.

Board President James Marciniak said that it’s the board’s intention to act on Bonnette’s recommendation.

“Basically, we’re ready to do it,” Marciniak said.

Last week, Bonnette revealed three finalists for the position – Troy Gobble, interim assistant principal for instruction at RB; David Travis, associate principal for instruction at Elk Grove High School; and Pamela Bylsma, assistant principal at Hinsdale Central High School.

All three candidates met with community members and staff at three open forums, which were followed by individual interviews with the RB school board.

Initially, board members planned on announcing their choice for principal on Feb. 9 during a regularly scheduled meeting, but Marciniak said the board wanted to call more attention to its decision and hold a separate meeting.

“It’s a special event for us, and it’s going to be a positive one,” Marciniak said.
