District 96 will spend $110,000 this summer to replace a portion of the roof over the auditorium of Hauser Junior High School in Riverside.

According to Superintendent Jonathan Lamberson, the three layers of old roofing will be removed in order to accommodate the new rubber and tar roof.

The auditorium will not be in use this summer, Lamberson said. Summer school will be held at Blythe Park School this year, so there won’t be any interruption in summer instruction due to the roof replacement project.

The district received six bids for the work, with Bridgeview-based Ridgeworth Roofing Company submitting the low bid at $109,848.

District 96’s school board voted to approve the bid and submit a building permit application to the village of Riverside at its May 18 meeting.
