RB soccer

The Bulldogs edged visiting Glenbard South last week to clinch the Metro Suburban Conference championship. RB (11-6-2, 6-0) also fell 6-0 to defending state champion Morton in a nonconference matchup last week.

LT soccer

The Lions routed Proviso West 8-0 in a West Suburban Silver match. Cristian Sanchez, Brett Heimerdinger, Frankie Kocimski, Matt Murphy, Kevin Kokaska, Piers Clarke, Nicola Kaplarevic and Cole Gilchrest each netted a goal for LT (15-3-1, 4-1). Goalkeeper David Fiflis recorded the shutout for the Lions, who also cruised past Reavis 7-0 last week.

LT boys golf

Lyons fell just short in both the medalist and team competitions to rival Hinsdale Central at the Class 3A West Chicago Regional. LT junior Ryan Hudson fired a 2-over-par 72 to finish one stroke behind the Red Devils’ medalist David Whinery. The Red Devils also bested the Lions 300-303 in team scores.

RB boys golf

Austin Adamec advanced to the sectionals by shooting a 91 at the Montini Regional of the Class 2A state playoffs. RB finished sixth overall (383), while Glenbard South won the regional (337), led by medalist Russell Matos (77).

RB girls golf

After taking second place at the Metro Suburban Conference Invitational, the Bulldogs finished fifth in regional playoff action at Cog Hill in Lemont last week.

LT swimming

The Lions earned a 124-62 victory against Oak Park in a league dual meet last week. In individual events, LT’s winners included Lauren Rosenberger, 200-yard freestyle (2:00.42); Elly Vitek, 200-yard IM (2:15.80); Kristine Rosenberger, 50-yard freestyle (25.00); Kelly Ryser, diving (203.30) and Louisa Hoffman, 100-yard butterfly (1:01.80). LT also swept the three relay races.

RB volleyball

The Bulldogs split a pair of conference matches, defeating Elmwood Park 25-17, 25-5 but losing to Timothy Christian 23-25, 17-25. Against Elmwood Park, Allie Shumowsky (6 kills), Lizzy Hawk (13 assists, 4 digs), Brittney JnoBaptiste (5 kills) and Elisa Pensieri (2 aces) led a balanced attack for RB (16-5, 7-2 Metro Suburban Conference).

Although the Bulldogs’ loss to Timothy Christian dropped them out of a first-place tie with the Trojans, RB fought hard as Hawk dished out 17 assists, while Shumowksy and Emma Schander recorded five kills and three aces apiece. Annabelle Gardiner (7 digs) and Amanda Lelivelt (4 kills) also contributed.

LT boys cross country

Lyons defeated Downers North 20-42 and Oak Park 15-50 in a triangular three-mile run. The Lions posted seven of the top 10 times, led by runner-up Michael Matusiak (15:15), Ryan Speir (15:17), Mike Accetura (15:19) and Dan Lupano (15:20). Other Top 10 LT runners included Henry Hostettler (15:22), James Ryan (15:23) and Connor Delaney (15:27).
