The Lions claimed the 12-team Downers Grove North’s Mike Williams Big Purple Invitational by edging fellow perennial power Fremd for the title.
Junior Michelle Cozza won the all-around (36.75) followed by sophomore teammate Kelsy Kurfirst (35.925) as LT finished with an overall score of 108.05. At last year’s state meet, Kurfirst impressed as a freshman placing ninth in the all-around.
Cozza won the uneven bars (9.35) and finished second on the beam (8.4) and vault (9.65) at DGN, while Kurfirst claimed top honors in the vault (9.775) and finished fourth in the uneven bars with a score of 8.925.
