David Kotrba

In December LaGrange Police Chief Michael Holub announced that Parking Enforcement Officer David Kotrba, of Riverside, received two awards for his service to the LaGrange Police Department.

Kotrba recently marked his five-year anniversary with the department and was awarded a good conduct medal. At the same time, he was recognized for his efforts identifying vehicles with outstanding balances of unpaid parking tickets, resulting in those vehicles being booted. Kotrba located 11 such vehicles during 2012, resulting in the payment of more than $20,000 in fines. For that, Holub awarded Kotrba a meritorious service medal.

Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel in December was named to the Illinois Executive Committee of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, a National anti-crime organization of more than 5,000 law enforcement executives and crime survivors.

The organization looks at research about what keeps kids away from crime and works to educate policymakers and the public on which programs are most effective.
