Lyons Township High School physics teacher Bryan Bergman in late 2012 was named Young professional State Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Earlier in 2012, Bergman had been named the Northeast District winner by IAHPERD.
The state award is the highest a young professional can receive from the organization.
