Lyons Township boys gymnastics

Sophomore Chris Rediehs excelled at the IHSA state finals at Lincoln-Way East High School with the following performances: 9.20 in the horizontal bars (third in state), 9.15 in the parallel bars (sixth) and 7.10 in the still rings (10th).

Teammates Will Gallucci garnered seventh place in the still rings (8.90) and Noah Mennemeier tied for 11th in the pommel horse, scoring 7.60.

Fenwick water polo

Matt Farmer scored six goals and Danny Farmer chipped in two goals to spark the Friars past defending state champion Lyons 11-8 in the Fenwick sectional championship Saturday.

Joe Shannon scored a team-high three goals while Josh Hirt and Peter Dore scored two goals apiece for LTHS.

Riverside-Brookfield boys water polo

After routing Westinghouse 18-4 at the Fenwick sectional play-in game, the Bulldogs’ season ended abruptly in a 23-6 loss to Fenwick.

Dave Kidwell and Paul Sitkiewicz netted two goals each for RBHS.

Riverside-Brookfield softball

Winning pitcher Katie O’Connell tossed a complete game seven-hitter with three strikeouts in the Bulldogs’ 11-2 win over Illliana Christian on May 9.

Emily Hastings and Emma Schander pounded out three hits apiece including a home run each as RBHS tallied 21 hits overall.

Lyons Township boys volleyball

The Lions rallied for a 20-25, 25-22, 25-23 victory over Brother Rice in the title game of the Richards Invite.

LTHS also defeated Hinsdale Central 25-13, 25-21, remaining perfect in the West Suburban (Silver) Conference with a 5-0 mark.

Riverside-Brookfield boys volleyball

The Bulldogs pulled out a 25-19, 25-19 win against Joliet Catholic in the third-place game at the Willowbrook Invite. Jack Gibson had eight kills and eight digs and Mitch Malloy pitched in three kills and two blocks for RBHS.

In other matches last week, RBHS swept Nazareth 25-12, 25-22 and Hinsdale Central 25-20, 25-14. Tim Thor-Larsen (9 kills), Jack Gibson (7 kills) and Danny Nava (17 assists) led the Bulldogs past Hinsdale Central.

Lyons Township baseball

LTHS (18-10) split a doubleheader with York on Saturday. After losing the opener 2-1, the Lions bounced back with a 7-1 game two victory over the Dukes.

Lyons Township girls soccer

The Lions (13-4-2) cruised to a pair of shutout wins 6-0 over Oak Park and River Forest and 4-0 vs. Rolling Meadows. Audrey Anfield scored a hat trick against the Huskies; Emily Lange netted two goals against Rolling Meadows.

Lyons Township boys track

LTHS (141 points) came in second behind York (162) at the West Suburban (Silver) Conference championship.

Matthew Harris won two events, the 110-meter hurdles (14.90) and long jump (22-11), while teammate Lino Mogorovic claimed the 300 hurdles title with a time of 38.75 seconds. Jimmy Mitchell threw a distance of 54 feet, 9.5 inches to win the shot put.

The Lions’ 1,600 relay team clocked a time of 3:23.04 to win the distance relay.
