The Lyons Township High School boys soccer team outscored its opponents 14-2 last week in reeling off three impressive wins. The Lions defeated host Oak Park and River Forest 5-2 and then blanked York 2-0 in a pair of West Suburban (Silver) Conference wins. LTHS capped off its productive week with a 7-0 rout of Lake Forest Academy in the Pepsi Showdown on Saturday.
Matt Murphy scored four goals and Frankie Kocimski found the back of the net three times to pace the Lions’ offensively in its three wins. Murphy leads LTHS with nine goals on the season.
LTHS returns 15 players from last season’s 18-4 squad which was upset by Fenwick in a penalty kick shootout during the state playoffs last season.
The Lions (5-0-2) play three more Pepsi Showdown games this week, starting with today’s 4:45 match (Tuesday, Sept. 17) against visiting Kelly on the LTHS North Campus soccer field.
