Twenty-two Riverside-Brookfield High School musicians received district honors at the Illinois High School Music Education Association contest on Oct. 2 at Sandburg High School in Orland Park.

Students were given specific pieces to sing or play, and competed to win one of about 375 spots in the district against some 1,500 students from more than 100 schools in the district.

The 22 chosen will go on to compete at the all-district jazz, choir, orchestra and band contest in November. From there, an all-state group will be chosen in December to perform at a later date.
