A new sports bar/restaurant is slated to open at 3733 Grand Blvd., pending approval next week by the Brookfield Village Board of a liquor license for the new owners.

The new establishment will go by the name of Pub 78 and will be operated by Jennifer Odesky and Caryn Johnson. According to a memo from Assistant Village Manager George Issakoo, which was included in the village board’s June 10 meeting packet, Odesky and Johnson have 14 years of experience in the restaurant business on both the operations and finance sides.

At the June 10 village board meeting, Odesky briefly introduced herself and the business, saying the duo hoped to open in mid-July.

Odesky said they hoped to bring an upscale vibe to the location, which has housed more than a half dozen different restaurant, bar and entertainment businesses in the past 15 years.

During the day, Odesky said Pub 78 would be a family-friendly place that serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, perhaps adding Sunday brunch later on. On the weekends, Pub 78 will host live music, she said.

Both women are Brookfield residents, having moved to the village a little less than two years ago. Odesky said in addition to working as a bartender in the past she most recently has been working on the operations side for a company that manages Dunkin Donuts’ locations and other restaurants.

Most recently 3733 Grand Blvd. housed Grand Tavern, which closed last summer after a six-year run. Prior to that, the location had housed Boulevard Blues Club, Grand Central Bar and Grill, The Sandbar, Boulevard Restaurant, Tequila Mockingbird and The Local Bar and Grill.
