Norbert D. Kretz, 84, surrounded by his family, died on Aug. 21, 2020 at his home of 55 years in Riverside.
An avid sportsman, Mr. Kretz made a hole in one, bowled a 299 game and held the fishing trophy for years. While being a proud member of the Riverside Township Lions Club, his real passion was science, developing theories and working on formulae until the end. He was retired from Argonne National Laboratory.
Mr. Kretz was the husband of Diane (nee Danaher); the father of Thomas (Stephanie), Margaret Kubik, Laurence and James (Sara) Kretz; the grandfather of Thomas, Steven, Martin, J. Connor, James “Jack”, Aubrey, Lauren, Jessica “Jessie” and the late Candace; the brother of Robert (Mary), Linda (late Don) Feeley and the late Margaret Mary Buerk; and an uncle and friend of many.
Visitation Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 3 to 8 pm. at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home, 80 E. Burlington St., Riverside. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Church in Riverside on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
